How the Pattern Identifier Works
OHLC Ratios Calculated
The tool calculates body size, upper wick, lower wick, and their ratios relative to the total candle range. These are the same metrics used in our backtest methodology.
Criteria Checked
Each pattern has formal detection rules (e.g. lower wick ≥ 2× body for Hammer). The tool checks every criterion and shows you which pass and which fail.
Match Score Assigned
A similarity score (0–100%) shows how closely your candle matches the ideal pattern. 100% = all criteria met exactly. Below 60% = pattern criteria not met.
Context Evaluated
Prior trend matters. A Hammer in a downtrend is valid; a Hammer in an uptrend is not. The tool adjusts results based on your selected trend context.
