Editorial Policy
How YouPattern creates, verifies, and maintains its content — and what we do when we get something wrong.
Last updated: June 2026
Who Creates the Content
All content on YouPattern is created and reviewed by Alexey Khmelev — the site's founder, a Certified Qualified Investor with 15+ years of active trading experience and a university degree in Finance and Credit. No pattern page, guide, or statistical claim is published without Alexey's personal review and approval.
YouPattern uses Python-based tools to generate diagrams and detect patterns in historical data. These tools are built and maintained by Alexey. All automated outputs are manually reviewed before publication to ensure accuracy and relevance.
How Pattern Pages Are Created
Each pattern page on YouPattern follows a documented production process:
- Definition research: The pattern's classical definition is cross-referenced against at least two authoritative sources (e.g., Thomas Bulkowski's Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns, Steve Nison's Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, or peer-reviewed academic papers).
- Identification rules: Specific, measurable identification criteria are derived from the classical definition and refined based on backtesting results.
- Diagram generation: An ideal diagram is generated programmatically using Python (matplotlib + mplfinance) to ensure geometric accuracy and visual consistency.
- Real example selection: Historical OHLCV data is scanned algorithmically for valid pattern occurrences. Candidate examples are manually reviewed by Alexey to confirm they meet all identification criteria.
- Statistical validation: Where statistics are published (reversal rate, average gain, failure rate), the source, methodology, sample size, and market conditions are disclosed on the Methodology page.
- Final review: Alexey reviews the complete page for accuracy, clarity, and consistency before publication.
Statistical Claims — Our Standard
YouPattern publishes quantitative data about pattern performance (e.g., "64% bullish reversal rate"). We hold ourselves to the following standards for all such claims:
- Every statistic has a disclosed source — either a published book/paper or a documented backtest.
- For our own backtests: asset class, time period, timeframe, sample size, entry/exit rules, and success criteria are all documented.
- Where statistics come from third-party research (e.g., Bulkowski), the source is cited explicitly.
- We do not publish statistics we cannot verify or reproduce.
If you believe a statistic on our site is incorrect or misleading, please contact us at hello@youpattern.com with the specific claim and your evidence. We will review and respond within 5 business days.
Use of Automation and AI
YouPattern uses automation in the following ways:
- Diagram generation: All ideal pattern diagrams are generated programmatically using Python scripts written by Alexey. This ensures geometric precision and visual consistency across all patterns.
- Pattern detection: Historical data is scanned algorithmically to find real chart examples. All detected examples are manually reviewed before being published.
- Data retrieval: Historical OHLCV data is fetched from the Binance public API (BTC/USDT, ETH/USDT, SOL/USDT and selected major crypto assets). Current published chart examples use cryptocurrency data only. Traditional equities, forex, and commodities are not currently used in published chart examples.
We do not use AI language models to generate pattern descriptions, statistical claims, or trading advice without human review and validation. Every text on the site has been written or substantially edited by Alexey.
Corrections Policy
We are committed to accuracy. When errors are identified — whether by users, by our own review process, or by new data — we correct them promptly:
- Factual errors (wrong statistics, incorrect identification rules) are corrected within 48 hours of confirmation.
- Corrected pages display a "Last updated" date.
- For significant corrections, we note what was changed and why.
- We do not silently delete incorrect content — corrections are made transparently.
